The Program for the Future Challenge (http://www.programforthefuture.org/challenge) is a global search to find the best new ways to collaborate. Inspired by the vision of computing pioneer Doug Engelbart, who laid the foundations for today's best collaboration and computing methods, we're looking for the next generation of these tools.

The search is carried out in the form of an annual design contest, prize, and localized conferences.

If it's an idea or tool that helps people work together - solve difficult problems together - or make better decisions together, it should be part of Program for the Future.

Founded by a group of Engelbart scholars and admirers in 2008, the challenge seeks to reward improvements that can advance the way we work and use innovative methods. Entries in the challenge range from online software tools to exemplary local community groups. New ideas, even simple ones, will form the basis for the next wave of  innovation. Program for the Future is the international challenge to find them.

The program is anchored with The Tech Museum in San Jose CA and supports its Tech Virtual project, an online platform for creating open source museum content. Participating museums are encouraged to develop exhibits about these innovations.
