Chuck House

Charles (Chuck) House
is the executive director of Media X, Stanford University's Industry Affiliate research program on media and technology, and a senior research scholar in the Human Sciences and Technology Advanced Research division at Stanford, continuing his work in technology-enabled communications, collaboration, and community. Previously, he was the director of Societal Impact of Technology for Intel Corporation, and the first Director of Intel’s Virtual Research Collaboratory. He is co-author of a forthcoming book – The HP Phenomenon: Innovation and Business Transformation – Stanford University Press, spring 2009.
He has been deeply involved with questions of technology's effect on society, distance learning and collaboration using multi-mediated Web networking, and innovation and technology transfer issues, all topics for research programs at Media X with Stanford faculty.
Chuck has been a high-tech executive for forty years, with Intel, Veritas, Informix, and HP. He is a graduate of Caltech, Stanford, University of Colorado, and the Western Behavioral Science Program in management and strategic studies. He is a past president of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and an IEEE Fellow. His work has been cited widely:
